On Saturday, May 19th, area residents and tourists alike will all come together at Lewinsville Park for one of the most anticipated festivals in the area of McLean, Vienna and Tysons Corner–McLean Day 2012! This is the celebration everyone waits months for! Admission is free and shuttle buses run all day long for your convenience.

Carnival rides and live entertainment are only part of the fun. There is always delicious food for every taste. Booth space is sold out for crafters and artisans to sell wonderful hand-made items. Many local non-profit organizations and area businesses will gather to meet the community and share their passions.

Live entertainment this year will be provided by The Alden starting at 11 a.m. The kids will love the games, free pony rides, face painting, and model airplane show.

Everyone should bring their appetite to dig into the seafood, pitas, Chinese cuisine, pizza, apple dumplings, funnel cakes, kettle corn and candy apples, not to mention the cotton candy, ice cream, snow cones and pretzels. If that is not enough of a selection, the McLean Rotary Club is scheduled to provide the chili, hotdogs and hamburgers. Plan to spend the day, and make some memories. McLean Day 2012 happens on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Lewinsville Park; don’t miss the fun!

The usual visit to a large shopping complex can be quite time consuming and sometimes frustrating: Multiple levels; complicated parking; elusive entrances, escalators and elevators.

This is not the case when it comes to Tysons Corner Center! It may be the largest shopping center in the DC area and the sixth largest in the country, but that does not necessarily equate to frustration. That’s pretty amazing considering the fact they host more than 300 retail establishments! Their “who’s who” of retail includes Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, L.L.Bean, Apple, Restoration Hardware, Coach, Crate & Barrel, Gap, The Disney Store, H&M, Talbots, Pottery Barn… the list goes on and on. Tysons also offers a 16-screen stadium seating style movie theater, several fine-dining and family-style restaurants, 10 food court eateries and a fun child’s play area.

Getting there doesn’t have to be a pain either. If you are visiting the area, several hotels offer shuttle service to the mall.

If you are driving yourself, before leaving home you can go directly to their interactive map, find the stores you need, plan your routes … they even recommend the best place to park based upon your targets within the center! Say you’re already in the Center and want to hop online…no problem. They offer free WIFI access in the 3rd level food court.

Don’t want to be bothered searching yourself? How many shopping centers do you know that have a dedicated Guest Services Department? You can phone ahead and they will assist you in all aspects of your visit, from driving directions to suggestions where you can find specific items you may be looking for. Now that is class!

Security is always an issue now days and Tyson Corner Center has great coverage! At Tysons Corner Center, nothing is more important than the safety and comfort of their customers. Unfortunately, crime is a fact of life in any community and shopping malls are not immune. That is why Tysons Corner Center has a Security Department that incorporates advanced video surveillance, computer systems, and communications systems as part of its safety program. They also work closely with the Fairfax County Police Department, which patrols regularly.

Recognizing the need to work together with their customers for security, Tysons Corner Center has implemented the following policies and programs:

• Round-the-clock patrols of the mall property
• Escorts to your vehicle, upon request
• Updated “Call for Assistance” Boxes located throughout the property
• Eight Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs) devices throughout the mall
• Medical emergency assistance including CPR and AEDs
• Jump starts of drained car batteries
• Lock-outs for customers who have locked their keys in their car
• Assistance in searching for lost vehicles
• Lost-and-Found service
• Pay phones linked directly to the Security & Guest Services Office
• TDD (Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf) machines
• Fairfax County Police Office (FXCSC)
